A truly unique experience. There are several safari circuits in Tanzania. The most famous, the one I did, is in the North and coincides with the very famous Serengeti, which hosts the great wildebeest migration, the Ngorongoro Crater and the Tarangire National Park.

FLIGHT The North Circuit safari usually starts from Moshi or Arusha. The nearest airport is Kilimanjaro airport. I booked the flight on Confronta voli low cost e prenota biglietti aerei | Skyscanner Round trip flight 650 Euro. Bologna - Vienna - Adis Ababa - Kilimanjaro Airport

INSURANCE There are tons of insurance companies. I paid 110 Euros for it (and it covered me for the full two weeks of travel) VISA To enter Tanzania it is essential to have a visa. I did it online on the official website https://eservices.immigration.go.tz/visa/ at a cost of $ 50. It was approved within two to three days but they recommend doing it well in advance. WHEN TO GO The best time for a safari is generally from July to October, during the dry season and winter, where temperatures are quite mild (I would even say quite cold).

VACCINES It is recommended that you get the Yellow Fever vaccine, they may not let you into the country. It is a vaccine that goes into action after ten days and is covered for life. MEDICINALS I took the pills to prevent and treat (in case I contracted it) Malaria. Of course, it is strongly recommended that you have a chat with your doctor.

WHAT TO BRING - Warm clothes (fleece, jacket etc.) - Lightweight long pants - Long-sleeved thermal shirt - Hat + sunglasses - Comfortable shoes - T-shirts - Mosquito spray - Torch - Binoculars - Portable battery charger - Telephone / Camera

HOW TO CHOOSE THE SAFARI COMPANY

On this website 10 Safaris in Africa - Best African Safaris - Bookmundi.com you can compare the various safari options and write to the organizers before booking. I booked with DREAM TANZANIA SAFARIS and I was very happy. * If anyone is interested, I have the personal contact of Frank, the head of the company *

COSTS In the collective imagination, going on safari is prohibitive due to the high costs (obviously it depends on how many days and what a person is looking for). In reality, with some forethought, the price can be contained a little. I went on a budget safari and paid 750 Euros for four days. Included in the price: - Park entrance fees (which are really high) - All activities - All meals and drinks (breakfast, lunch and dinner) - All transportation (they picked me up at the hotel and dropped me off at the airport) - The guide - Every night (two in tents and one in hotel) Excluded from the price: - Tip ($ 10 per day for the guide and the cook)

Day 1

SERENGETI

It is very famous, on a global level, for the sighting of the "big five": elephant, lion, rhino, buffalo and leopard. The only one I have not been able to see in the Serengeti is the rhino, which is indeed a rare and endangered animal, due to hunting to sell the horn. Lioness

Elephant

Leopard

Buffalo

And many more..

Hippos

Cheeta

More cheetas

Wildbeests

Giraffe

Zebras

Grey crowned crane

The parasites of large animals

You will sleep in the Pimpi Public Campsite, in a tent, inside the Serengeti. In the evening, behind our tents, there were four buffaloes.

Day 2

SERENGETI: another half day inside the park to spot other animals. You will sleep at Ngorongoro Simba Campsite, in a tent, at 2,300m above sea level.

Our tend and an elephant

Tents surrounded by zebras

Day 3

NGORONGORO CRATER it is a crater in which many animals gather to eat and drink, thanks to the presence of a huge lake inside

I was extremely lucky to see the black rhino, one of the few remaining on the planet.

Warthog (Pumba!)

Vulture

Lionesses and baby lions tearing a carcass to pieces

You will sleep atl Fig Tree Lodge, an hotel close to Moshi.

Day 4

TARANGIRE NATIONAL PARK it almost seems to have been the background to the cartoon "The Lion King"

Baobab everywhere

Python

(Zazu!)

Giraffes and zebras

Gazelles

Ostriches

Baboons

And many hippos
